SA, India agree on education and skills exchange

Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi and Indian Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions and Parliamentary Affairs, Suresh Pachouri, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Ms Fraser-Moleketi told BuaNews the “umbrella” agreement would deal with teacher competency in terms of maths and science and curriculum development.
It will also deal with the effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The agreement is further expected to focus on mentorship and exchange programmes, human resource development, training and the secondment of public officials from SA and Indian public sector institutions.
“We will see South African government officials being put on an exchange programme with India for training and mentorship,” she said.
Minister Pachouri told the media he was looking forward to working and sharing knowledge with the South African government.
He will also meet members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration before departing for India.
