Participant Profile
Participants are typically from the middle to senior management levels. They have either obtained a qualification in a specific career field or through
career specialisation have reached a managerial position and need to acquire the skills of strategic general management.
Programme Structure
The BTech Management degree, as offered by the Business Studies Unit, consists of 6 modules. These are presented by way of lectures, group
discussions, case studies and role plays.
Sustained participation is required throughout the modules. The lecturing contact time is 36-48 hours per
module.
Two modules are conducted concurrently over approximately 12 weeks of part-time study and are completed and examined before the next
two modules begin.
The usual duration of the programme is 12 months of part-time study. Delivery may also be in the form of a block release.
Objectives
The BTech: Management degree is aimed at equipping entrepreneurs and managers with a wide range of sophisticated functional business management
skills; enabling them to utilise these skills practically in both the commercial and industrial environment.
The participant will acquire an in-depth
understanding of the managerial functions essential to the general manager.
Evaluation of Participants
Assessment is both formative and summative and includes:

• Weekly individual and group exercises and tasks
• Group and individual assignments
• Open and closed book case study integrative assessments

To complete the programme successfully, learners must be found competent in all aspects of the summative assessment according to requirements listed in the relevant student handbook.
Entrance Criteria
The minimum entry requirements for admission to the B.Tech are:

• Twenty three years of age and
• Three years management experience and
• National Diploma in Management or an appropriate 3 year Tertiary qualification
• Alternative admission can be achieved via a RPL process
• A placement assessment will apply

Short Courses
Any module from this programme, with the exception of Research Methodology, can be offered as a stand-alone academic credit bearing short course.
Candidates are required to meet the pre-determined entrance requirements as set for this programme.
