The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has revealed that several changes were made to the administrative processors relating to the R350 grant. These changes include the qualifying criteria for the grant and the appeals process.
SRD grant applicants whose application has been rejected by Sassa now have to follow a new appeals process. This is because Sassa no longer deals with SRD appeal applications. Unsuccessful clients must now submit SRD reconsideration requests to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
It is important to note that SRD grant applicants have a limited time to appeal a rejection from Sassa.
Clients will have a 90-day deadline to lodge an appeal with the ITSAA.
