Section 18A of the Income Tax Act enables a taxpayer, who has made a donation, to claim a tax deduction up to a certain limit.
SARS has tightened up systems in order to prevent abuse in this area and has introduced further information required on Section 18A receipts. It was recently announced that all receipts issued from 1 March 2023 must comply with the new rules.
These latest requirements are a precursor to the introduction of the new IT3(d) process which will require NPOs to submit data (details of donors and donations) electronically to SARS. Going forward, the issuing of manual Section 18A certificates may fall away altogether.
Inyathelo, which advises and trains NPOs on sustainability and resilience, and is an expert in NPO governance, is holding a free webinar to inform and educate the NPO sector about these latest requirements and future developments with regards to the Section 18A process.
The webinar will be held in partnership with Turning Point Chartered Accountants, a multi-disciplinary consultancy offering comprehensive financial solutions for NPOs.
The webinar leader will be Turning Point’s Director of Tax Ridhwaan Khan CA(SA), HDip (Tax), HDip (VAT), with input from Turning Point Partner Reza Amra CA(SA), BCom, BCom Honours (Acc) and Inyathelo Financial Director Soraya Joonas, BSc Hons Accounting, MBA.
