The application period will open on 22 July 2022 at 08:00 and close on 19 August 2022 at 00:00. This gives parents less than a month to apply for public school admission in their province.

Parents can submit placement applications to a maximum of five schools but a minimum of three schools is acceptable. They are however reminded that they won't be able to submit multiple applications for one child at one school.

The GDE has provided parents with a tip to ensure their children are placed at a preferred school. Parents are encouraged to use home addresses within the school feeder zone.

The schools feeder zone  is a geographical area from which a school accepts most of its students from. These feeder zones are located near the school. To increase the likelihood of the learner being placed at school in their community, parents should make sure their preferred school choices are located within a school's feeder zone.
