In South Africa, workers are required to contribute to the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). This money can be accessed if they are unable to work for several different circumstances. 

 

The UIF compliance certificate is issued to employers who have employees. The certificate serves as confirmation that the employer was complying with all the UIF requirements at the date of issuing the certificate.

 

Employers can apply for both the UIF Compliance Certificate and a Tender Letter online. 

 

This process can be done online at the Electronic Compliance Certificate System website. The service is free and can be used by employers, agents and tax practitioners. 

 

Here’s How To Register On The UIF Compliance Certificate

 

Step 1: Visit the UIF compliance certificate website by CLICKING HERE

Step 2: Click on “Register”.

Step 3: If you are registered with the UIF, click yes and type your UIF reference number. If you're not registered with the UIF, you must type your CK Number. 

Step 4: Type your UIF number as an individual representing the applicant.

Step 5: Insert all the details required on the page. 

Step 6: Insert your reference number. 

 

Here’s How To Apply For A UIF Compliance Certificate

 

Step 1: Visit the UIF compliance certificate website by CLICKING HERE

Step 2: Click on “Login”. 

Step 3. Insert the required information(ID Number,Password,UIF reference number).

Step 4: Accept Terms and Conditions.

Step 5: Click on “Generate Certificate”. 

Step 6: Click “Confirm” 

 

Your certificate will be generated by the system. You will be given the option to download the certificate as a PDF or print the document. 

 

If you as the applicant were considered to be non-compliant, the system will generate a rejection letter accompanied by a rejection report. 

 

If you are not satisfied with the decision of the system, you can click on the dispute option located on the bottom left of the screen. A dispute will be accepted with the reasons including attachments and be dealt with within 10 working days which is similar to the verification of applicants whose contributions commenced before April 2004.

 

The Compliance Certificate or Tender Letter will be valid for 12 months from the date it was issued.
