Matriculants who want to register for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in May/June have less than a week to apply, as the application closing date approaches.
The application period for the NSC examinations that will be taking place in May and June this year will be closing on 11 February 2022.
Here are the qualifying conditions for the 2022 May/June NSC Examinations
- Candidates who were absent from an examination with a valid reason
- Candidates who want to improve their overall achievement status only want to improve their achievement in a particular subject
- If a candidate was absent for one exam paper of a particular subject, you will need to write all of the papers for that subject
- In a case where an irregularity is being investigated, a candidate may receive provisional enrollment, pending the outcome of the investigation.
It's important to note that candidates will only be able to enrol for subjects that they were registered for during the November NSC examinations.

Here is what you can do if you don't qualify to participate in the 2022 May/June NSC examinations.
- Re-enrol for the NSC at a school. This option is only for individuals under the age of 21 years old.
- Register as a part-time candidate at a Public Adult Education Centre. This option is only available for candidates older than 21 years old.
- Register for vocational education and training at a Further Education and Training College.
Those wanting to register for the NSC November 2022 examinations will have an extra week to apply. This is because the November NSC examination application period deadline is on 18 February 2022.
