The Northern Cape Department of Education (NCDOE) urges parents to apply before it's too late, as 20 June 2023 marked the last day school applications can be submitted for learners in the Northern Cape.
Online learner admission applications opened on 23 May 2023, for the 2024 school year.
The Education Department has clearly stated that the Northern Cape 2024 online admission applications are strictly for learners who will be in Grades R, 1 & 8 in the upcoming school year.
Before the application period closed, the NCDOE made the following statement on social media:
The 2023 Online Admissions System will be closing on Monday, 20 June 2022. We encourage all parents who have not yet applied for Grade R,1 and 8 to do so and secure a school space for your child.
Applications must be submitted online, but walk-in centres are available to assist parents. In the Northern Cape, applications consist of three steps. Parents must complete these steps to ensure their application is complete:
- Parent/legal guardian registration
- Learner profiling
- Application
"We plead with parents to become more actively involved in ensuring that their children benefit from their constitutional right to basic education," said the Northern Cape Head of Department, Moira Marais.
The Department has reminded parents that they cannot guarantee placement of a learner at the school of the applicant's preference, but they will ensure that all learners who applied for Grade 1 and 8 are placed.
Should parents be applying for any other grade, they will need to apply directly at the school they are wishing for the child to attend.
