The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) has officially opened its Trimester 2 applications. The application period will close 19 August 2022. This gives qualifying students just over a week to apply.

It's important to note that this application period is only open to students studying at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. The bursary will cover a student's tuition costs, accommodation costs, living expenses, transportation costs, textbook costs and student meal allowance.

Nsfas has advised students to apply online or through TVET college bursary offices.

TVET colleges offer students a wide range of courses that aim to equip them with technical skills which they can use for employment or start their own business. However, Nsfas will not fund every course offered at TVET colleges.
