Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges have kicked off their academic year, after the successful registration of its students.

"Most of our Technical, Vocational and Training Colleges (TVET) have commenced with their teaching and learning including practicals following the successful online registration process. Some of the colleges are still accepting students in areas where the enrolment targets are not met. The Department’s TVET branch is monitoring the developments at each college," reads a statement made by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Blade Nzimande.

Community Colleges have also opened their doors on 11 January, 2023 for inland provinces and opened on 18 January, 2023 for coastal provinces. Prospective students are advised to go to their colleges of choice for registration for the academic year 2023.

Universities, on the other hand, will only commence with their academic year from February, but registration has already begun on 16 January and is anticipated to close on 20 February, 2023.

The Minister also wishes to remind students that Nsfas application results will be communicated to all applicants once Nsfas has received confirmation from the institution of the student's choice that an academic offer has been made.

This will be communicated to all students via SMS, email, and through the student’s myNSFAS account.

Further details on the Department of Higher Education and Training's (DHET) state of readiness will be announced by the Minister before the end of January, during the Nzimande's annual media briefing following the final engagements with all relevant stakeholders within the Post-School Education and Training Sector.

With regard to registration queries, students are advised to continue to liaise with their universities through the relevant communication channels.
