The University of South Africa (Unisa) announced the reopening of applications for selected programmes at the institution. Programmes that will take applications during this application period include Honours Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas.

Unisa revealed that this application period will close on 8 February 2023. This gives prospective students a short window of opportunity to apply to study at Unisa in 2023.

Students wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission, including first-time Unisa applicants, Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or changing the specialisation of their current qualification.

Applicants in their final year of an undergraduate qualification who wish to continue with postgraduate studies can also apply during this application period.

Unisa communicates to students through their unique myLife email address.

First-time applicants who do not have myLife email addresses will receive the outcome of their application from the university via the email address and cellphone number prospective students provided in their application.

Students who were previously registered with Unisa will receive the outcome of their applications via their myLife email account. The university advised students to check this email account regularly for information.

Students who have forgotten their myUnisa/myLife password, can go to myUnisa (https://my.unisa.ac.za) to update their password.

The university reminded prospective students that all applications must be submitted online. They also revealed that no self-help stations will be available at regional offices.

Unisa warned that admission to a qualification is not automatic. Whether a student is admitted will depend on whether they comply with admission requirements and if there is space available in an academic programme.

The university called on applicants to ensure their applications are complete as incomplete applications will not be processed by the institution. A complete application includes paying the application fee and uploading all the supporting documents.

All students registered at Unisa will receive a free myLife email address. It is the responsibility of the student to activate their myLife email as soon as their registration is complete.
