Unisa Semester 2 Applications Close Today

Today is the last day prospective students can apply to study at South Africa's largest university in 2023. Students are required to submit their application, supporting documents and pay an application fee before the application deadline.

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has reminded prospective students that Friday, 5 May 2023 is the last day they can apply for admission to study at the institution in 2023. Prospective students can apply for admission to a limited undergraduate qualification for the second semester.

Unisa opened applications for semester 2 on 17 April 2023. This gave prospective students less than one month to apply to study in the current academic year.

Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for semester 2 of the 2023 semester are open from 17 April to 5 May 2023. Please note that only limited undergraduate qualifications are available during this application period.

Unisa offers a wide range of undergraduate courses in a variety of fields of study. Qualifications available at Unisa include courses in Economic and Management Sciences, Education, Human Sciences, Law and Science, Engineering and Technology.

Your Unisa Application

Individuals wanting to apply for admission to start a new qualification at Unisa are required to apply. This includes first-time applicants, current students changing their qualification or specialisation and applicants who did not register.

To study at Unisa, applicants must ensure they meet the qualifying criteria to enrol in their chosen course. They must also have the required documents as well as a valid email address and a valid phone number.

Documents required for Unisa applications

  • Copy of school qualifications
  • Cop of tertiary academic qualifications/records
  • Copy of the applicant's ID document
  • Sworn translations if the documents they provided are not in English or Afrikaans.

Prospective students must submit these documents before the application deadline. No documents will be accepted by the university if they are uploaded after the deadline has passed.

Applicants will then be required to pay the application fee once they receive a student number from Unisa. The application fee for online applications is R125. Proof of payment can be sent to the university via email

This fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through Unisa, do not qualify for admission to Unisa or cannot be offered a space due to limited spaces available

Applicants may be offered a space at Unisa if there is space available in their chosen course and if the applicant meets the academic requirements for a qualification.
