To address the academic setbacks caused by the pandemic, the DBE has implemented initiatives like the Learning Recovery Programme and the use of diagnostic reports. These measures aim to support students' learning and preparation for the exams.
The 2023 Grade 11 cohort benefited from a return to full-time schooling, allowing them to effectively cover their Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs). This was a significant advantage compared to previous cohorts who faced disruptions due to pandemic restrictions.
The DBE has appointed 55,053 markers who will be stationed in 188 marking centers. The matric results are expected to be released on 16 January 2025.
With extensive preparations and support initiatives in place, the DBE is confident in its ability to successfully administer the 2024 NSC examinations.
