The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will continue distributing the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant throughout the year.
This means that eligible grant beneficiaries who have successfully applied for the SRD grant will continue to receive it until the grant’s implementation concludes.
More than 7 million people successfully submitted SRD grant applications. However, some people who previously received the grant have been denied receiving the critical relief measure starting in July 2023.
If you have been rejected for the July 2023 grant, you have the right to submit an SRD grant appeal application. You can submit an appeal if you were notified of your rejection and disagree with the decision by Sassa to reject your application.
It's important to note there is a deadline for individuals to submit an SRD grant appeal application for July 2023.
All appeal applications must be submitted to the Independent Tribunal For Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) within 90 days of receiving Sassa’s decision.
