University Application Dates For 2025 Academic Year, Including Closing Dates

  • Application opens on 11 May for the University of the Western Cape with a deadline for Dentistry undergraduate programs on 30 Aug and for other programs on 30 September.
  • Stellenbosch University opens applications on 1 April.
  • University of Cape Town's application period runs from 2 April to 31 July.
  • University of Pretoria starts applications on 1 April with a deadline for Faculty of Veterinary programs on 31 May and for all other faculties on 30 June.
  • University of the Witwatersrand's application opens on 1 March with a deadline for Teaching courses and Bachelor of Nursing on 30 June and for all other programs on 30 September.
  • *University of Kwazulu Natal's application period is from 1 April to 30 September.
  • Rhodes University's application opens in May with a deadline on 30 September.
  • *Unisa's application starts in September with a deadline in January.
  • University of Johannesburg's application runs from 1 April to 31 October.
  • North West University opens applications on 2 April with a deadline for BEd Honours, PGCE on 28 June and for all other courses on 30 August.
  • University of the Free State begins applications on 1 April.
  • Nelson Mandela University's application starts in April with deadlines for MBChB, BPharm, & BRad on 30 June, early applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad) on 2 August, and late applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad) on 30 September.
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology opens applications on 14 May with deadlines for Teaching courses and Bachelor of Nursing at the end of July and for all other programs at the end of September.
  • University of Zululand's application period is from June to the end of September.
  • *Vaal University of Technology's application runs from May to the end of September with a deadline for Bachelor of Education in senior phase and FET Teaching, Diploma in Safety Management, Diploma in Labour Law, Policing and Diploma in Information Technology at the end of August.
  • Central University of Technology starts applications on 27 March with a deadline on 30 September.
  • Walter Sisulu University's application opens on 2 April with a deadline for Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) on 30 September and for all other programs on 31 October.
  • University of Limpopo opens applications on 2 April with a deadline for MBChB on 31 July and for all other programs on 30 September.
  • University of Mpumalanga's application period is from June to 30 November.
  • Sol Plaatje University starts applications in April with a deadline on 30 November.
  • Durban University of Technology's application runs from April to 30 September.
  • Sefako Makgatho University opens applications on 2 April with a deadline on 31 July.
  • Tshwane University of Technology starts applications in March with a closing date for specific programs on 15 June and for admission for January (excluding international applications and specified programs) on 30 September.
