NSFAS provides financial aid to eligible students enrolled in approved TVET college courses. This funding covers tuition and registration fees, along with allowances for accommodation, transport, living expenses, and study materials.
Increased NSFAS Allowances for 2025
Minister of Higher Education and Training Nobuhle Nkabane has announced that NSFAS allowances for TVET College students will increase from R10,000 to R14,600 in 2025, a 46% rise.
Below are the confirmed NSFAS allowances for March 2025:
Accommodation Allowance
This allowance is paid monthly for 10 months. Students who do not qualify for accommodation support will receive a transport allowance instead.

Travel Allowance
Students receiving transport support, including those with disabilities, will receive R802 per month for 10 months.
Personal Care Allowance
Students living in catered residences will receive a personal care allowance of R316 per month for 10 months.
TVET College Students Must Upload Banking Details
NSFAS disburses allowances directly into students' personal bank accounts. TVET College students must upload their banking details on the myNSFAS portal to ensure timely payments.
Only students with confirmed NSFAS funding and submitted registration data can provide their banking details.
How to Upload Banking Details

Visit the myNSFAS portal.

Log in using your myNSFAS credentials.

Select "Bank Account Details" under "Profile Information".

Enter your banking details.

Click "Save".
