The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will see a R284.7 billion allocation for social grants in the 2025/26 fiscal year.

Revised Grant Values Detailed

The announced Sassa grant increases, effective from April, will see significant changes to monthly payments.

  • The old age, war veterans, and disability grants will each increase by R130, bringing their respective totals to R2315, R2335, and R2315.
  • The foster care grant will rise by R70 to R1250, while the care dependency grant will increase by R130 to R2315.
  • The child support grant and grant-in-aid will each increase by R30, reaching R560.

Financial Administration and Disbursement

The Department of Social Development recently confirmed the transfer of over R66.4 billion to Sassa for the administration of these social grants. This funding ensures the continued provision of essential financial support to millions of South Africans.
