The 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams in South Africa concluded on November 28th, with nearly 840,000 public school candidates participating across 150 subjects.
Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube announced a significant achievement with a matric pass rate of 87.3%, marking a substantial 4.4% increase compared to the previous year's 82.9%
The eagerly awaited matric results were made public on the morning of 14 January.
Re-marks and Re-checks
Candidates dissatisfied with their results or suspecting potential errors can apply for a re-mark or re-check.

How to Apply for a Re-mark/Re-check
- Obtain Application Form: Acquire the form from the exam center.
- Online Application:
- Visit: The official government e-Services portal.
- Locate: The education icon (graduation cap).
- Select: Basic Education > Re-Mark/Recheck.
- Complete: The online application accurately.
- Accept: Terms and conditions.
- Payment: Make the necessary payment using your exam number as a reference.
For further clarification, candidates can request to view their exam scripts for a fee of R230. Apply within 7 days of receiving re-mark/re-check results.
Re-mark results will be available from March 7, 2025, and can be collected from the respective exam centers.
Matric Rewrites
For those aiming to improve their results, the May/June 2025 rewrite offers an opportunity. Applications open immediately after receiving matric results and close on 7 February 2025.
