Sassa provides over 18 million permanent grants, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid. Additionally, approximately 8 million individuals benefit from the temporary Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
Sassa Grant Payment Dates – May 2025
In line with Sassa’s payment schedule, grants will be paid out as follows:
-
Older Persons – 6 May 2025
-
Disability Grants – 7 May 2025
-
Children’s Grants – 8 May 2025
Delays Expected in May Payments
Sassa has announced that some May 2025 grant payments will be delayed. The agency explained that the delays are aimed at encouraging affected beneficiaries to visit local offices to verify their personal details and financial information.
“This is being done to ensure that only eligible individuals continue receiving support,” Sassa said.
“Failure to do so may result in suspension of grants, and if uncorrected, the grant may eventually lapse.”
Beneficiaries who do not complete the verification process risk suspension of their grants. If suspended grants lapse, recipients will need to reapply.
