The Department of Basic Education (DBE) released the May/July 2024 Matric Rewrite results on 7 August. The next results to be released will be for matric re-marks and re-checks for this exam period.

With the release of the May/June 2024 matric results, the DBE has opened applications for further processes for candidates dissatisfied with their results. Among the available options are re-marks and re-checks.

Applications for re-marking and re-checking of the May/June 2024 matric exams opened on 7 August and will close on 20 August 2024. The cost is R116 per paper for a re-mark and R29 per paper for a re-check.

What Is A Matric Re-check?

Requesting a re-check of your matric script means your paper will be reviewed to ensure that all questions were properly marked and that the marks were accurately calculated.

What Is A Matric Re-mark?

If candidates believe their assigned marks do not reflect their performance, they can request a re-mark. This involves a complete re-evaluation of the original answer script by a different marker.

When Will the Re-mark/Re-check Matric Results Be Released?

The DBE has confirmed that re-mark results will be available from 19 September 2024.

Candidates will receive a new statement of results only if their marks improve or if their pass status changes after the re-mark or re-check. In such cases, a refund can be requested. No refund will be issued if the results remain the same or decrease.
