The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) supports thousands of students by covering tuition and providing monthly allowances.

NSFAS allowances are paid over 10 months, from February to November. No payments are made outside these months.

Allowances of students will be paid based on an approved NSFAS payment channel.

NSFAS Allowance Payments for June 2025

In 2024, university students received allowances via their institutions. TVET College students were paid directly into their bank accounts.

For 2025, TVET students will continue to receive payments via direct deposit. Students must ensure their banking details are up to date on the myNSFAS portal.

“The allowance payment method for TVET College students remains personal bank accounts. Colleges are encouraged to advise new NSFAS-funded students to open bank accounts at any South African banking institution.”

NSFAS planned to introduce direct payments for university students in 2025, but implementation is delayed due to a court case. Allowances will still be distributed by universities.

NSFAS sends funds to institutions, which then disburse them to students. Payment processes may vary depending on the university.

“Students are advised to consult their institution to determine when and how they will receive their allowances,” said NSFAS.

How To Upload TVET Banking Details on myNSFAS

Only students with approved NSFAS funding and registration status can upload their banking details. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the myNSFAS portal.
  2. Log in with your myNSFAS credentials.
  3. Click on “Bank Account Details” under “Profile Information.”
  4. Enter your banking details accurately.
  5. Click “Save.”

Students should regularly check their profiles and updates from NSFAS to avoid delays in receiving their June 2025 allowances.
