The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has now officially confirmed the Sassa grant payment dates for August 2024. Beneficiaries are urged to take note of when their August grant payments will be made.
Sassa is responsible for the payment of social grants South Africa which includes the old age pension, disability grant, child support grant, care dependency grant, foster child grant, war veterans grant and the SRD grant. Every month, before Sassa payments commence, the agency releases the SASSA payment schedule for grant beneficiaries who require financial assistance.
Sassa grant payment dates for August 2024
Sassa released the following SASSA payment schedule for grant beneficiaries for August:
- Older Persons Grant - 2 August 2024
- Disability Grants - 5 August 2024
- Children's Grants - 6 August 2024
There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.
Sassa grant increases
Sassa increased the grant payment values in April. The current Sassa grant amounts are as follows:
- Older Persons grant - R2,180
- Older Persons (75 years and older) - R2,200
- Disability grant - R2,180
- War Veterans grant - R2,200
- Care Dependency grant - R2,180
- Foster Care grant - R1,180
- Child Support grant - R530
- Child Support grant (Top-up) - R530 + R250
- SRD Grant - R370
Another Sassa grant increase is expected on 1 October. Older Persons, Disability, War Veterans, and Care Dependency Grants will receive a Sassa increase of R10.

SASSA beneficiaries have two convenient options for receiving their grants:
Direct Bank Deposit
For those who prefer the ease of electronic payments, SASSA offers the option to deposit your grant directly into your bank account. This means you can access your funds instantly and securely.
Cash Paypoints
If you prefer to collect your grant in cash, SASSA provides a network of paypoints across the country. You can withdraw your grant at ATMs or various retail stores, including popular chains like Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.
