The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides over 18 million permanent grant payments to vulnerable individuals in South Africa. In 2025, grant beneficiaries will see an increase in the values of these payments.
The permanent grants distributed by Sassa include the Older Persons Pension Grant, Disability Grant, War Veterans Grant, Care Dependency Grant, Foster Child Grant, Child Support Grant, Child Support Grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-Aid.
In March, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivered his Budget Speech, announcing grant increases for 2025. The first phase of these increases will take effect in April, with further adjustments scheduled for later in the year.
