The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) disburses grants to over 18 million South Africans each month. Sassa administers various permanent grants designed to aid financially vulnerable individuals in South Africa.
These grants encompass the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid.
Typically, permanent grant payments commence in the first week of the month. However, in February, Sassa will face challenges in paying grants consecutively, as the agency does not make payments on weekends or public holidays.
February Permanent Grant Payment Dates
- Older Persons Grant - 2 February 2024
- Disability Grants - 5 February 2024
- Children's Grants - 6 February 2024
Regarding the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, Sassa has clarified that the R350 grant payments will occur in the last week of the month. This delay is attributed to the necessity of conducting verification checks.
SRD Grant Payment Dates For February 2024
In February 2024, Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments are scheduled to be disbursed from 23 February to 29 February. Following the processing of payments, it usually takes around 2-3 working days for the funds to reflect in recipients' bank accounts.
Sassa has emphasized that grant beneficiaries can check their Sassa status on the SRD website during the designated payment week. This will enable them to ascertain the precise date on which their Sassa grant payment will be credited to their bank accounts.
Where To Collect Grants
Grant beneficiaries can collect their grants at ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer.
Sassa beneficiaries can also choose to have their Sassa grant be paid directly to their bank account.
