Are you a South African citizen struggling financially? The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is now accepting applications for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for November 2024.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for the SRD grant, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or special permit holder.
- Not receive any other social grant or government support, such as UIF benefits or NSFAS bursaries.
- Have a bank account balance of less than R624.
How to Apply
- Visit the SRD Grant Website
- Select Your Citizenship: Choose your citizenship status.
- Start Your Application: Click on the "Apply Online" button.
- Verify Your Number: Enter your mobile number and verify it using the OTP sent by Sassa.
- Complete the Form: Follow the on-screen instructions to finish your application.
Where to Collect Your SRD Grant
If your Sassa application is approved, you can choose to receive your SRD grant directly into your bank account or collect it at any of the following authorized supermarkets:

- Boxer
- Checkers
- USave
- Shoprite
- OK
- Spar
Sassa will verify your identity and income before approving your application. Payments are typically made at the end of the month.
