The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has released the payment schedule for grants in July 2024, providing clarity for over 19 million beneficiaries.
Permanent grants distributed by Sassa include Older Persons pension grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
July 2024 Payment Dates
Sassa will commence the distribution of July grants on Tuesday, 2 July 2024, starting with the Older Persons grants. The subsequent days will see the distribution of the remaining permanent grants.

Collection Of Grants
Beneficiaries can receive their grants through direct deposit into their bank accounts. Alternatively, they can collect their funds in cash at ATMs or various retail outlets, including Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.
Sassa emphasises that beneficiaries do not need to withdraw their grants on the exact payment date. The funds will remain in their bank accounts until they are needed, eliminating the need to rush on the first day.

- Older Persons Grant: R2,180
- Older Persons (75 years and older): R2,200
- Disability Grant: R2,180
- War Veterans Grant: R2,200
- Care Dependency Grant: R2,180
- Foster Care Grant: R1,180
- Child Support Grant: R530
- Child Support Grant (Top-up): R530 + R250
Future Sassa Grant Increases
Beneficiaries can expect an increase in their grants starting 1 October 2024. The first increase for 2024 took effect in April.
SRD Grant Payment Dates
Around nine million individuals benefit from the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. SRD grants are typically dispersed in the last week of the month and are not part of the permanent grant payment cycle. Sassa has yet to announce the SRD grant payment dates for July 2024.
