The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, initially introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic to aid the unemployed without an alternative income source, has undergone several extensions and is now set to conclude in 2025.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is tasked with disbursing this grant, providing beneficiaries with R350 per month. Sassa has recently disclosed the SRD grant payment dates for 2024.
Here Is The Srd Grant Payment Schedule For 2024:
- January 2024: Payment period from 25 January 2024, to 31 January 2024
- February 2024: Payment period from 23 February 2024, to 29 February 2024
- March 2024: Payment period from 25 March 2024, to 29 March 2024
During the assigned payment week, Sassa encourages beneficiaries to check their Sassa status on the SRD website to determine the precise date of their Sassa grant payment into their bank accounts.
The agency also reminds grant recipients that it typically takes approximately 2-3 working days for the funds to reflect in their bank accounts after the payment processing.
It is crucial to note that the Sassa grant payment department does not disburse grants on public holidays or weekends. SRD grants are typically paid during the last week of the month. If this period falls on a weekend or public holiday, the grant will be distributed on the subsequent weekday, following the payment schedule.
SRD grant payments are disbursed during the final week of the month after Sassa completes various verification checks. These checks are in place to ensure that only deserving individuals receive SRD grant payments.
Collecting Grants
Beneficiaries can opt to have their grant paid directly into their bank accounts, allowing immediate access to the funds. If a personal bank account is unavailable, beneficiaries can collect their R350 grant payment at participating retailers such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.
