Millions of South Africans rely on the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to make ends meet. Every month, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) receives millions of applications for the R370 Sassa grant.
If you submitted an SRD grant application, you are encouraged to track your SRD application status by conducting a Sassa status check.
To track the progress of your SRD grant application, you can easily check your status online. Here's how:
How to Check Your Sassa Status
- Visit the official Sassa SRD website.
- Access the "Application Status" section.
- Enter your ID number and cellphone number.
- Verify your identity with an OTP.
- Check your application status.
SRD Sassa Appeals
If your SRD grant application has been denied, you have the right to appeal to have your Sassa application re-evaluated. The SRD appeals are evaluated by an Independent Tribunal, ensuring a fair and impartial assessment.
If your appeal is successful, you will receive an SMS notification. If you don't hear back within 90 days, you can check the status of your appeal online.
If your appeal is unsuccessful, you may need to take further action, such as approaching the High Court for a review.
SRD Grant Payments
Sassa usually makes SRD grant payments during the last week of the month, once all the verification checks have been completed. The agency will however not pay grants on weekends and public holidays.
You can choose to have your grant automatically deposited into your bank account or collect it in cash from various locations, including ATMs, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer stores. Sassa has said that the funds may take 2-3 days to appear in your bank account but that the funds will remain in your bank account once it's deposited.
