The University of South Africa (Unisa) will begin the 2025 academic year with many students funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). NSFAS has outlined how allowances will be disbursed to Unisa students in April 2025.
NSFAS Funding for Unisa Students
NSFAS provides bursaries and student loans to eligible students at universities and TVET colleges. Funding covers tuition, registration fees, and allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
Many Unisa students benefit from NSFAS support.
How Unisa NSFAS Allowances Will Be Paid in April 2025
Unisa has confirmed that NSFAS allowances for the first six months of 2025 will be paid via electronic funds transfer (EFT) into students' bank accounts.
NSFAS allowances are paid by the institution via EFT into the student’s bank account.
This method aligns with NSFAS procedures for all university students.
Students with incorrect or missing allowances should contact Unisa’s student funding department at DSF-NSFAS@unisa.ac.za.
From April 2025, qualifying students will receive NSFAS allowances on the 29th of each month.
How to Submit Bank Details for NSFAS Allowances
Students must ensure their banking details are correctly submitted and verified to receive payments. Follow these steps:
-
Click the link sent to your myLife email.
-
Enter your banking details.
-
Wait for the bank verification process to be completed.
Unisa reminds students that allowances will only be paid into bank accounts registered in their name. Bank details must match the student's Unisa ID number, and third-party accounts will not be accepted.
Students should regularly check their bank verification status to avoid delays. If resubmission is required, it must be done promptly.
