The University of South Africa (Unisa) is taking steps to improve student account security by upgrading all myLife email accounts. This upgrade will involve a brief service interruption of approximately three hours.
Unisa users an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) approach, allowing students to study from home without attending in-person classes. Online examinations have also been implemented in recent years.
Following the upgrade, students resetting their passwords through the "Forgotten Unisa Password" function will be required to create new passwords for both their myUnisa and myLife accounts. This enhanced security measure aims to further protect student information.
From 16 July 2024, you will have to create a new password for myUnisa and your myLife e-mail account whenever you use the "Forgotten Unisa password" function.
Unisa strongly encourages students to regularly update their myUnisa/myLife passwords. This can be done conveniently through the Microsoft Online Password Reset link, which is part of the university's multi-factor authentication system. This system significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to student accounts, even if a password is compromised.
You can do this via the Microsoft Online Password Reset link, which forms part of our Multi-Factor Authentication.
