The University of South Africa (Unisa),has announced its 2025 allowance payment schedule.
Students will receive monthly NSFAS allowance payments directly into their personal bank accounts via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). This move clarifies the "Unisa NSFAS allowance payment date" for students dependent on financial aid.
Fixed Monthly Distribution Commences April 2025
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. NSFAS funding covers tuition, registration fees and several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
Unisa has confirmed that eligible students will receive their NSFAS allowances on the 29th of each month, beginning in April 2025.
From April 2025, qualifying students will receive payments on the 29th of every month,
This fixed schedule aims to provide students with consistent financial support.
Bank Details Submission and Verification Required
To facilitate timely payments, students must submit their banking details via a link sent to their myLife email accounts. Unisa mandates that "allowances must be paid into bank accounts registered in their name. This is because the bank account details will be verified against the student’s Unisa ID number. No third-party banking details will be accepted."
Students are required to monitor their bank verification status.
Resolution of Payment Discrepancies
Students facing issues with allowance payments are advised to contact Unisa's student funding department.
Unisa reiterated that "students must regularly check their bank verification status after submission. If resubmission is required, it must be done promptly to avoid delays in payment."
