The University of South Africa (Unisa) is urging all students to complete their registration for the second-semester modules. Registration for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees, postgraduate diplomas, MBA and MBL qualifications will close on Friday, 28 July 2023.
Unisa has introduced several measures to assist students complete the registration process for second semester modules before Friday’s deadline. These measures include making provisions for communication between staff and students, addressing challenges concerning outstanding academic results and assisting students with outstanding debt.
Unisa Staff Contacting Students
Unisa says staff are currently reaching out to students directly regarding their second semester registration. Designated staff are contacting affected students including new and returning students via text and telephone calls.
The university is urging students to respond to calls from recognised Unisa numbers and check and respond to SMS messages related to their Unisa registration status.
Students are advised to pick up the calls from numbers from Unisa and/or check and respond to the SMS messages.

Academic Result Impacting Registration
Unisa has acknowledged that some students cannot complete their registration due to pending examination results. The university wants to assure students that they are working to ensure all outstanding results are released as a matter of urgency.
Relevant university officials are working around the clock to ensure that the outstanding results from the May/June 2023 examinations are released as a matter of urgency.
Once students receive their outstanding academic results they will be able to complete the registration process for their second semester modules. Students can inquire about examination results by contacting [email protected].
Students With Outstanding Debt
Unisa has decided to permit students with outstanding debt from the 2022 academic year, who have only two modules left to complete their qualification, to register. These students will only be allowed to register upon completing and getting approval for an Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD) form.
A similar arrangement is extended to students awaiting confirmation of funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Students can seek further information and complete the AOD where applicable by contacting the university at [email protected].
Unisa introduced these measures to create a supportive environment for students to complete their registration on time and progress with their academic pursuits at the University.
