Didn't get your child into your dream school in the Western Cape? The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has opened the appeals process for parents just like you.
An appeal gives you a chance to ask the Provincial Minister of Education to reconsider the school's decision. Before you appeal, talk to the school! They might be able to offer alternative solutions or explain their reasoning.
With regards to Grade 1 and Grade 8 applications, schools are currently finalising their admission lists, confirming placements for children on their waiting lists. This process is ongoing.
Ready to appeal? Here's how:
- Go online: The WCED has a user-friendly online platform. Just click "Admission Appeal" and follow the prompts.
- Email: Send your appeal directly to [email protected].
- By mail: You can also send a physical copy to the Minister's office.
What to include in your appeal:
- Your child's name and CEMIS number.
- The school's name and grade level you applied for.
- A clear explanation of why you believe the decision should be overturned.
- Any relevant sections of the school's admission policy that support your case.
- Supporting documents (optional).
