    Allan Gray Orbis Foundation

Grade 12 learners given another chance to shine

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is providing South Africa’s brightest Grade 12 learners with a second opportunity to shine this 06 June 2009.

Owing to the large number of bookings, the Foundation has announced its decision to give learners another chance to write the Additional Admission Research Project (AARP) Test, a requirement when applying for the Foundation’s unique Fellowship Programme.

The Fellowship Programme aims to develop students, known as Allan Gray Fellows, as South Africa’s future high growth entrepreneurial leaders and lists comprehensive financial support as one of its many benefits.

Comments Anthony Farr, CEO of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, “The purpose of writing these tests is to afford all applicants the same opportunity to display their academic ability and potential in the areas of Mathematics and English.

"In essence, the AARP tests level the playing field by providing an equal and accurate measure of a candidate’s potential in a highly disparate education system. The results of these tests are then used by the Foundation to fairly assess the applicant’s suitability to compete for the Awards.

"The tests do not require any specialist knowledge and as such do not require any preparation or studying. However, matrics are advised to register to write as soon as possible."

Launched in 2005, the Foundation aims to bolster job creation and alleviate poverty by harnessing the power of pioneering, young bright sparks with enough entrepreneurial potential to positively impact our collective future.

With the eventual aim of having 1000 learners and students enrolled at any one time, The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation calls on South Africa to ensure that talented, young people are aware of their opportunity to shine by booking and writing the final AARP test for 2009.

Register to write by 22 May 2009 and write on the 06 June 2009.

For further information on how to apply to write the AARP test call 0861 2EXCEL or visit Allan Grey Orbis Foundation.
