Allan Grey Orbis Foundation
Grade 12 learners given the opportunity to realise future dreams
Fri, 20 Mar 2009 09:41
Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is searching for candidates who it feels have what it takes to become the next Mark Shuttleworth. The selected grade 12 learners - called Allan Gray Fellows - stand to benefit from a life-changing four year programme (including full financial support) carefully crafted to develop these high-growth entrepreneurs.
Anthony Farr, CEO of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, comments: The purpose of writing these tests is to afford all applicants the same opportunity to display their academic ability and potential in the areas of Mathematics and English.
"In essence, the AARP tests level the playing field by providing an equal and accurate measure of a candidates potential. The results of these tests are then used by the Foundation to fairly assess the applicants suitability to compete for the Fellowship Programme. The tests do not require any specialist knowledge and as such do not require any preparation or studying. However, Matrics must book to write as soon as possible.
The Allan Gray Fellowship Programme was created with Matriculants in mind who are intending to pursue undergraduate university degrees in commerce, engineering and science (excluding medicine).
Allan Gray Fellows are provided access to an extensive entrepreneurship programme that offers a full scholarship which includes university fees, residence allowance, mentorship, entrepreneurial skills development and attendance at seminars with some of the top thought leaders in various industries.
There are no contractual obligations associated with the programme and Fellows who have already been issued with a bursary from an alternative institution can still apply to be accepted into the Allan Gray Fellowship Programme.
Launched in 2005, the Foundation aims to bolster job creation and alleviate poverty by harnessing the power of pioneering, young bright sparks with enough entrepreneurial potential to positively impact our collective future.
With the eventual aim of having 1000 learners and students enrolled at any one time, The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation calls on South Africa to ensure that next work force is aware of its opportunity to shine by booking and writing the AARP test for 2009.
