The Western Cape Businesswomen’s Association has awarded its 2009 bursary to Catherine Day, who is currently completing her MBA at the UCT GSB. The bursary is awarded annually to a candidate who excells as a woman in business, and who has the potential to elevate others.

China doubles its scholarships for African students

The Chinese government has doubled the number of scholarship it grants to Africa to 4 000 students per year, says Yu Wenzhe, China’s Ambassador to Ghana. The expanded package is China's contribution to help Africa to achieve its goals, Mr Wenzhe said at a reception he hosted for 34 Ghanaian students who have received Chinese government scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.
