    D-day for matrics

    Today marks the culmination of 12 years of schooling for 620 266 learners - 512 029 full time and 108 237 part time learners.

    The matrics will write a two-hour English Home Language and First Additional Language Paper 1 or a two-and-half hour English Second Additional Language at 9am.

    Last year, the matric pass rate was 67.8% - an increase of 7.2% on the 2009 results (60.6%).

    Study centres were set up around the country where learners could revise and study.

    The Gauteng Department of Education has set up a crisis/distress line for troubled matriculants, which can be contacted on 086 132 2322.

    On 1 December, the learners will write their last exam Religious Studies Paper 2 and Design. - BuaNews
