    Free classes for supplementary exams

    Learners in Gauteng who have qualified to write supplementary exams can now register for free classes which will be offered in various subjects at the end of the month.

    Learners have until 24 January to register for the classes which will run from 29 January to 20 February every Saturday and Sunday between 8am to 4pm.

    The classes are expected to be held in over 40 centres throughout Gauteng.

    Learners who wish to attend extra classes in Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Science, Life Sciences, Accounting, Geography, History, Business Studies can register at the point where they register for supplementary exams.

    The Gauteng Department of Education said the extra lessons would focus on techniques and skills to answering typical exam questions and revising key content areas of the curriculum.

    Supplementary exams will be written in February and March.

    The list of centres is available on www.gpg.education.gov.za or interested learners can phone 0800 00 5174 for a list of venues closest to where they stay and for more information.

    In addition to this programme, the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre has set up a weekly programme where learners can study daily with the help of subject specialists.

    This will take place from 31 January to 18 February, and will run from 9am to 2pm. The venue will be Sci-Bono Discovery centre in Newtown.
