Uplifting the community is a core value of the Eastcape Training Centre (ETC) and this year, as part of our 35 year Anniversary celebrations, we have decided to give back to Missionvale Primary School.

For the past month ETC has been busy with the upgrading of sections of the school as part of the company CSI project.

Conditions at schools have in general been deteriorating and it is now time for the community and local business to take action and assist these schools in restoring them to an acceptable state.

The project involves addressing the basic needs of the school to ensure the children receive the quality learning environment they deserve. The project focuses on the improvement of and repairs to the bathrooms in the school. We have chosen to do the bathrooms because we believe it is a more urgent need than the others posed by the school principal, Mr Raubenheimer. ETC staff will carry out all repairs and maintenance work at no cost to the school.

To date the toilets have been fixed by the plumbing Facilitator. The next phase includes fixing of the ceiling boards as well as painting and plaster work in the bathrooms. We are in need of more sponsors to support us in this cause and would appreciate any form of donation from your company.

Some of the local businesses who have made a contribution are Waltons for the sponsorship of the pencil cases and pencils, Trink for the R500 donation, as well as Africa Timbers and Spectrum Ukhanyo for the donation of items needed for the project.

The expected date of completion of the project is Mandela Day - 18th July 2011 when the revamped toilets will be handed over to the school it signifies as ETC’s small contribution in giving back to the community in honour of Nelson Mandela.the special day.

Eastcape Training Centre is situated in Port Elizabeth and since 1976 has been a leading provider of skills training in South Africa. The company is committed to providing all people in search of skills and development with the kind of training and / or assistance that satisfies the needs and aspirations of individuals and organisations alike.

ETC will continue to be a significant player in the development and growth of our region, enhancing employability and sustainable livelihoods through social sustainable development initiatives.
