Kelly scoops another international award
Thu, 20 Nov 2008 12:36
Kelly, South Africa’s leading talent management organisation was awarded the inaugural American Staffing Association (ASA) Care Award for the international staffing category at the Staffing World® 2008, ASA convention and expo which took place in San Diego.
The staffing specialist is the first and only South African agency to be awarded this esteemed international award which recognises international ASA members and affiliated chapters for their outstanding corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The award further acknowledges Kelly for assisting their employees and communities by incorporating ethics, employee-friendly policies, environmentalism, good governance and community engagement into the core functions of their business.
“Corporate social responsibility is a priority of ASA and increasingly a priority among its member companies,” said Richard Wahlquist, ASA president and CEO. “ASA instituted this award to applaud the efforts of exemplary member companies and affiliated chapters.”
This is the second time this year that Kelly has been acknowledged in the global arena for their contribution to community upliftment through their Kelly Alexandra/Soweto project.
In June, Kelly was named the Gold award winner for “Best Community Spirit” at the 3rd Annual Contact Centre World’s Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Awards.
Gayleen Baxter, Chief Operating Officer of Kelly says, “We are thrilled to be the recipient of the prestigious ASA Care Award. We firmly believe that Kelly, through the Kelly Alexandra/Soweto Project, is helping to fundamentally transform the lives of once disadvantaged South Africans and, in the process, develop a generation of people who are eminently more skilled and therefore more employable.”
A panel of independent corporate social responsibility specialists selected the winners which included:
· Kelly (international staffing agency category),
· Winter, Wyman Cos. (small staffing agency category),
· Lloyd Staffing (midsize staffing agency category),
· Volt Workforce Solutions (large staffing agency category),
· Minnesota Recruiting and Staffing Association (ASA-affiliated chapter)
Baxter says, “To be amongst the likes of such reputable, US companies is indeed an honour and proof that Kelly (and South Africa) are not only on par but, in some cases, setting benchmarks for the rest of the world.”
