    Teta refutes tender-rigging allegations

The Transport Education and Training Authority (Teta) CEO, Ms Maphefo Anno -Frempong has vehemently denied all allegations of tender-rigging, made by a ‘disgruntled former employee’ published in a newspaper last week.

The training authority claims to be reviewing the matter and ‘has moved swiftly to deal with it in a systematic, professional manner within the appropriate legislation’.

The troubles began when former corporate services manager Secomoco Sibambato levelled allegations of misconduct against three senior Teta officials, including chief executive officer Maphefo Matlala.

In a statement to the Public Protector Sibambato accused Matlala, along with chief operating officer Mogomotsi Kgantsi and acting chief financial officer Thokozani Kubheka, of acting irregularly and awarding tenders outside of the organisations procurement regulations established by the Treasury in the Public Finance Management Act.

But according to a statement issued by Teta chairman June Dube ‘the allegations of impropriety were only made after dismissal of the employee in question…’

Teta also claims that Sibambato ‘submitted the allegations directly to the minister and did not follow the proper procedure’.

Now the training body is seeking justice and according to a recent statement issued by the office of the CEO ‘A forensic investigation is now under way to look into this matter’.
