The Labour Minister has announced that major reforms to the country's labour laws will be published in draft form on Friday 17th December. The Minister characterised the changes to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other labour laws as 'far reaching'. Addressing a breakfast meeting of government and business leaders, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe called on corporate SA to work together with government investing in education upliftment programmes. Motlanthe urged the leaders to consider social partnerships to meet the infrastructure and facilities needs - classrooms, libraries, laboratories and sporting facilities - all are needed to effectively prepare learners for the world of work.
