    Labour law reforms introduced

    The Labour Minister has announced that major reforms to the country's labour laws will be published in draft form on Friday 17th December. The Minister characterised the changes to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other labour laws as 'far reaching'. Tha national government has been attempting to clamp down on labour brokers and other atypical employment practices.

Through the new deal the NMMU Business School will be epanding to KZN through a certification and accreditation agreement with Business Development Unit.

    Zimbabweans waiting for passports - urged to submit their applications

    With the deadline for Zimbabwean nationals to regularise their stay in South Africa fast approaching, Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has once again stressed that the 31 December cut-off date would not be extended. Those still waiting for their passports from the Zimbabwean government are urged to submit their applications with their identity documents or birth certificates so that they can be recorded in the system before the deadline.

    Mpumalanga anticipates new schools to relieve overcrowding

    Mpumalanga Education MEC Reginah Mhaule has promised that KaMhlushwa Primary in Mpumalanga will open its doors for pupils by the beginning of the 2011 school year. The new brick-and-mortar school will include a library, computer centre, Grade R centre, an assembly hall and sports fields. A further four new schools are planned, with one school per four main municipal areas having boarding facilities to accommodate rural learners.
