As it stands, there are just two months scheduled in which Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries will receive their R350 grants.
More than 15 million people applied for the SRD grant. However, only around 10 million people are benefiting from the grant. In addition to this, more than 4 million people’s SRD grant applications were rejected by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
Sassa evaluates SRD grant applications on a monthly basis. This is because grant applicants may be eligible to receive the grant one month but due to a change in circumstance, are not eligible the next month.
For as long as the grant is being distributed by Sassa, your grant application could be either approved or rejected.
If you believe Sassa wrongly rejected your SRD grant appeal, you may apply for reconsideration.
Depending on what the rejection status of your SRD grant application was, you may be required to take different actions in order for your grant to be approved.

Sassa has informed clients that there is currently a delay in the reconsideration process.
The agency said, ‘Clients who applied for reconsideration are advised of the delay in addressing the reconsideration requests. Sassa is working tirelessly to ensure that this matter is resolved as soon as possible.
