As most Sassa beneficiaries will tell you, receiving services from the agency can require a lot of patience due the high number of social grant recipients there currently are. It is for this that Sassa’ online services were introduced.
This is an online portal that is meant to ensure that beneficiaries are able to apply for social grants entirely online. You can also check the status of your Sassa grant there. To login and use the Sassa service portal you must first register for a Sassa online account using the steps listed below.
How To Register For An Online Sassa Account
- Visit the Sassa Services Portal
- Click on 'Register' under 'Register New Account'
- Click 'I Agree' when the prompt for South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) & Cookie Consent appears
- Click 'Apply'
- Fill out the user registration
- Provide your personal details such as your name, surname, ID number etc.
- Provide an email address as well as your phone number.(make sure that your contact details are updated and you use them regularly as you may receive communication from Sassa on it)
- Provide a password, which you will make use of when logging into your Sassa account.
Once you have completed the registration process, you will now be able to login to your Online Sassa account.
How To Log Into Your Sassa Online Account
To do this, you will need to fill in your user name, which in this case is your I.D number and the password you provided while registering.
The Sassa service website will also ask for access to your browser. Click ‘Allow’ as not doing this will halt your ability to login to your account.

How To Apply For A Grant Online
Step 1: Visit the Sassa services website
Step 2: Register as user following the above mentioned instructions
Step 3: Use your user name and password to start an application
Step 4: Click on ‘Apply for a Grant’ and specify the grant you want to apply for
Step 5: Complete the grant application form by providing the required information
Step 6 Print out the affidavit generated by Sassa and have it commissioned by the nearest commissioner oath. Also print, sign and submit the bank payment form with the affidavit.
Step 7: Upload certified supporting documents in PDF format as indicated by the application form (The website will indicate the required document for you),
Step 8: Submit: Submit your application and you will receive a confirmation of your submission with a reference number via e-mail or SMS. Use this reference number for any enquiries.
