The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is committed to paying the correct social grant to the correct beneficiaries. However, this is not always the case and some deserving individuals are rejected from receiving critical relief grants.
Sassa received more than 12 million Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants or R350 grant applications during the grants’ current iteration. However, only around 7 million people have been approved to receive the relief grant.
While Sassa endeavours to ensure only deserving individuals receive social grants, they acknowledged that sometimes grant applicants are wrongly rejected from receiving a grant. These individuals are encouraged to submit a grant appeal application.
If you applied for the R350 grant but your application was unsuccessful, then you have the right to submit a R350 grant appeal application.
Before submitting a R350 grant appeal application, individuals must complete a r350 status check. By completing a R350 grant status check, grant applicants will see whether or not their application was successful and why this decision was reached by Sassa.
How To Complete A Sassa Status Check For R350 Grant
Step 1: Visit the SASSA SRD grant website
Step 2: Scroll down to the 'South African ID Holders' and click the 'click here to proceed' tab
Step 3: Then, scroll down to 'Application status' for your SRD grant
Step 4: Click on 'Click here to check online'
Step 5: Fill in your ID number and the phone number that you used for your application, then click 'submit'
After checking your Sassa status, you can see for which months you must submit a R350 grant appeal.
Appeal applicants are reminded that they must submit a Sassa appeal for each month their R350 grant application was rejected. If they do not submit an appeal for a specific month when their grant application was declined, it is assumed that they accept the decision made by Sassa to reject their grant application.
It's important to note that appeals must be submitted to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). The tribunal works independently from Sassa and handles grant appeals applications.
