Why Updating Your Banking Details Matters
SASSA distributes SRD grants to financially vulnerable individuals across the country. However, applicants with invalid or outdated banking details may be approved for the grant but not receive a payment date. To prevent payment delays, it is essential to ensure your banking information is accurate and current.
Steps to Change Your SRD Grant Payment Method (July 2025)
If your application has been approved and you wish to change your payment method, follow the steps below:

Visit the official SRD website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za

Under the “South African ID Holders” section, click “Click here to proceed.”

Scroll to the section titled “How do I change my banking details?”

Enter your ID number in the designated field.

You will receive an SMS with a secure, personalised link sent to the mobile number you used in your application.

Click the link and follow the instructions to update your banking details.
Important Notes:

If you choose to receive your grant via bank deposit, the account must be in your name. SASSA will not deposit funds into accounts belonging to other individuals.

If you prefer to use a money transfer through a major bank, your mobile number must also be registered in your name.
Verification and Processing
Your updated banking information will be used for future payments once it has been successfully verified by SASSA. Ensure all details provided are accurate to avoid any delays or issues with receiving your grant.
