Leading, supervising, and managing a team has been identified as a scarce skill. To supervise means to direct personally or to oversee performance of work. Our proposed leadership programme equips supervisors and managers to understand their overall role and equip them with the skills to lead and supervise a team to achieve the objectives in their department. This learning programme also introduces junior managers/supervisors to the basic ideas on motivation and how to create and work with and lead performing teams. In addition to training in the core dimensions of supervisory skills such as planning, scheduling and controlling, we will also be developing their competencies in leadership, personal development, interpersonal skills, team management and conflict management. Supervisory skills cement the participant’s role as a leader and also provide a tangible and practical context, allowing these skills to be easily transferred into a work environment.
