The course focuses on comprehension of text in a business context and the development of the skills to write texts and reports. The learner is equipped with both cognitive and affective dimensions of reading comprehension skills that enable them to interrogate a technical text in order to maximise understanding and to acquire the skills needed to extract relevant information from texts used in a business environment. The course enables learner to identify textual features specific to texts in a business environment including legal documents.
A key component of the course is report writing. The course equips the candidate to determine the purpose a report, accurately gather data as well as structure their thinking and writing and write a well written report in plain language as well as an executive summary.
The course is targeted at both administrative and middle and senior management staff that is required to comprehend business documents including legislation and write text and reports appropriate to their particular business context. Entry requirements for the course are Grade 10 in schooling or NQF Level 3 in Communication
