This programme is aimed at participants who already have a baseline competence in HRd, generic management and ETD practice.

Minimum of two years work experience as a supervisor, manager, human resource practitioner or trainer is therefore required.

The programme enables specialisation in the facilitation, mentoring & coaching role, and may also be taken as part of a full generalist qualification at Level S.

The role of Facilitator, Coach & Mentor

Anyone playing the role of facilitator, mentor or coach needs to be able to do a number of things:

Be competent to develop facilitation, mentoring or coaching programmes, including session plans and materials.

Conduct group or individual facilitation, mentoring and/or coaching sessions.

Provide learners with guidance and support around learning and career path choices.

Continuously improve their practice through researching their own facilitation, mentoring or coaching practices and those of others in their organisation.

The content of the Facilitation, Mentoring & Coaching Module The Facilitation, Mentoring & Coaching Module equips existing or prospective facilitators, mentors or coaches with the competences to do all the above.

Participants in the programme analyse current facilitation, mentoring or coaching practices in their organizations, as well as the requirements of these and how to improve them, then bring this analysis along to the week-long contact training.

Participants share their challenges with one another and work together in developing the systems and tools they will require to meet these challenges, as well as developing practical skills and a theoretical understanding underpinning facilitation, mentoring and coaching skills.

"Learning sets" - study and work groups - can be set up during the week-long session.

"Learning sets" require participants to work together when back in their organisations.

Each week of self-study and work experience participants work together to achieve particular outputs.

These outputs cumulatively lead to the development and continuous improvement of facilitation, mentoring & coaching practices.
